BHS Student Selected for Junior Law Cadet Program

April 14, 2025

Hayes Plugge, a junior at Burwell High School, has been chosen to participate in the prestigious Junior Law Cadet Program, sponsored by the American Legion Department of Nebraska and Burwell Post 298. This unique program offers high school juniors the opportunity to explore the field of law enforcement through hands-on training and educational experiences. The 2025 Junior Law Cadet Program will take place from June 23-26, with separate sessions for boys and girls.

Held annually at the Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy in Grand Island, the Junior Law Cadet Program provides participants with an in-depth look at various aspects of law enforcement. Activities include firearms training, self-defense, accident investigation, K-9 handling, and even driving a state patrol car. Students also learn about the latest advancements in law enforcement technology and gain valuable insights into the criminal justice system.
