Being a TeamMate Mentee Pays Off!!
The benefits of the TeamMates Mentoring Program are many, but one that students and parents may not be aware of is the number of scholarships available to TeamMates seniors who have been in the program for at least two years.
TeamMates Post-Secondary Coordinator DeMoine Adams has been working hard the past two years to make more scholarships available. Most recently, he has developed a partnership with Hastings College to enable one TeamMates senior to receive a renewable full-tuition scholarship each year. In addition, the State College System consisting of Chadron, Peru, and Wayne will give nine renewable full-tuition scholarships to TeamMates seniors, three to each campus, with plans to increase the number awarded if the students are successful. Metro Community College in Omaha is also offering one renewable full-tuition scholarship to a TeamMates senior.
A number of other non-renewable scholarships are available through the TeamMates Central Office, with most of them worth at least $1,000. TeamMates mentees who apply for the Susan Buffett Scholarship are given special consideration if they write about how the TeamMates Mentoring Program has impacted their lives.
Most local TeamMates Chapters offer additional scholarships to their TeamMates seniors, and our Burwell Chapter is considering doing that as well.
So, beyond the benefits of having an additional caring adult involved in the life of a TeamMate mentee is financial help for college, definitely something worth considering.
