One-to-One Chromebook Kick-off at BPS 2020-21
August 09, 2020
Now more than ever, technology is an essential part of learning for today's student. We are excited to once again offer chromebooks for students in grades 4-12. We are working on a plan to provide one-to-one devices for lower elementary grades as well.
In order for your son or daughter to receive their Chromebook, a few things need to happen:
1) The User Agreement must be signed by parents and the student.
2) Each student will be charged a $25 lease fee. A student fee waiver can be filled out if needed. The $25 lease fee will be used to help with additional costs associated with the program.
3) If a chromebook does not work properly, the students will be asked to contact the BHS technology department. The technology staff will do their best to fix normal wear and tear issues but if the Chromebook is physically damaged, the student will be responsible.
4) Students are responsible for their assigned Chromebook. Insurance coverage for the Chromebooks can be covered through a parent's home owners plan or an "inland marine coverage" can be added. Contacting your insurance agent would be recommended.
5) A video that outlines the use of Chromebooks should be viewed by both students and parents. The link provided here, also answers frequently asked questions and provides instructional videos on various topics involving Chromebooks in education. https://sites.google.com/a/burwellpublicschools.com/bps-chromebooks-for-education/
Once these items are taken care of, students can pick up their Chromebook from the high school library (grades 7-12) or from their classroom teacher (grades 4-6). Incoming 7th graders and new students can sign forms, pay the lease fee, and pick up their chromebooks during student orientation on Friday, August 16th.
